Epstein Case: judge orders publication of Maxwell case files

9 Dicembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – A federal judge in New York today granted the Department of Justice’s request to publish grand jury documents related to the case of Ghislaine Maxwell, the pedophile financier’s former partner sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in the child sex trafficking network. Judge Paul Engelmayer stated in the ruling that he has taken the utmost care to “establish a mechanism that protects victims from the accidental dissemination of material that could allow their identification and invasion of privacy.”

Last week, a federal judge in Florida also ordered the publication of material related to the first investigation, conducted between 2005 and 2007, against Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 in his New York cell. Both federal judges’ decisions come in light of the law passed in recent weeks by Congress requiring the Department of Justice to publish all files related to the Epstein case. The ruling of another federal judge in New York regarding the papers related to the second investigation, which led to Epstein’s detention in 2019, is still pending.

Last week, Maxwell’s lawyer filed a brief stating that his client “takes a stand” on the Department of Justice’s moves, and thus on the law signed by Donald Trump, but argues that the dissemination of material related to her indictment “would create unnecessary prejudice” preventing “the possibility of a new fair trial.”
