Notre-Dame, over 11 million visitors in one year

5 Dicembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – At Notre-Dame de Paris, the number of visitors exceeded that before the fire of April 15, 2019: one year after its reopening, the restored cathedral welcomed 11 million people from all over the world.

Last December 7, Notre-Dame had reopened after more than five years of work, in the presence of President Emmanuel Macron and other heads of state and government, including Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during a ceremony broadcast worldwide. One year later, “the cathedral welcomed over 11 million visitors from all over the world,” emphasize the officials cited by Bfmtv. The attendance rate (approximately 8-9 million estimated entries) before the fire has been surpassed. To repair the damage caused by the blaze, an enormous construction site was set up, financed by 843 million in donations.

Individual visitors can enter with or without reservation, and always free of charge, despite the idea of a 5-euro contribution put forward by the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati. This proposal was rejected by the Diocese of Paris, in the name of the Church’s mission of unconditional welcome. Faced with the influx of visitors, however, Notre-Dame is approaching the idea of “regulating” entry, particularly during services, based on the number of visitors already present.
