Tokyo, Dec. 2 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte have agreed to enhance cooperation between East Asian nation and the alliance of European and North American countries. In their telephone talks Monday, Takaichi emphasized that the security in the Euro-Atlantic and that in the Indo-Pacific are “inseparable,” and that Japan-NATO cooperation is “strategically important.” Rutte congratulated Takaichi on her inauguration in October. The two leaders agreed to elevate the cooperative relationship between Japan and NATO to “new heights.” Takaichi and Rutte exchanged views on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the situation in the Indo-Pacific region, confirming their commitment to work together on these issues.
