Warsaw chooses Swedish submarines to strengthen Baltic Sea security

(Adnkronos) – The government in Warsaw has announced its decision to rely on Swedish submarines to enhance its naval security. Polish Defense Minister Pal Jonson spoke of ”a historic day for the partnership between Sweden and Poland and for increasing security in the Baltic Sea”. In a post on ‘X’, Jonson explained that ”Poland has selected Swedish submarines for the Polish navy. This will strengthen our common defense base, security, and defense industry”. 

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on ‘X’ that Poland’s choice to turn to ”Sweden as a partner for its submarine program” represents ”a strength not only for cooperation between our countries, but for Sweden as a nation with a leading defense industry”. Kristersson added that ”Poland and Sweden will together assume greater responsibility for security in the Baltic Sea” and ”will deepen political, defense, and industrial cooperation. In a period of uncertainty for the entire region, we are together strengthening our part of the world”.
