(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani cut the ribbon at the Milan Salone del Mobile preview event ahead of the three-day Riyadh Furniture Fair which kicks off on Wednesday, Tajani wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“We have inaugurated the preview of @iSaloniofficial, featuring 38 Italian companies distinguished by their absolute excellence,” Tajani wrote.
“With #Growth Diplomacy, we are supporting a supply chain that employs 66,000 businesses and 300,000 professionals and which generated over 9 billion in exports in the first months of 2025,” Tajani stated.
Saudi Arabia – already Italy’s second-largest market for furniture in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – represents an increasingly strategic market in this sector, Tajani noted.
“The presence of the #SaloneDelMobile in Riyadh contributes to supporting our economic growth,” Tajani concluded.
The ‘Red in Progress. Salone del Mobile. Milan meets Riyadh’ event offers a preview of the first edition of the Milan Furniture Fair due to be held in Riyadh in 2026, with the participation of Saudi culture minister Badr bin Farhan.
The event is being organised in partnership with the Saudi culture ministry with support from Italy’s foreign ministry and its trade agency (ITA), according to a statement from the foreign ministry.
