Guinea-Bissau, ‘military claim to have taken control of the country’

26 Novembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – In Guinea Bissau, a group of officers, presenting themselves as the “High Military Command for the Restoration of Order,” claims to have taken control of the country “until further notice.” Radio France Internationale reports this.

Rfi further reports that several measures have been announced: the suspension of the ongoing electoral process (presidential elections were held on Sunday), the annulment of results expected tomorrow, and the suspension of media programs. The population is urged to “remain calm.”

After reports of gunfire near the presidential palace and the offices of the Electoral Commission, the situation is now calm, Rfi further reports, specifying that presidential guard personnel control the strategic roads leading to the Palace.
