Yad Vashem ‘discriminatory’ post, Poland summons Israeli ambassador

24 Novembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – Poland has summoned the Israeli ambassador to Warsaw, Yaakov Finkelstein, over a post published on X by Yad Vashem, the Israeli Holocaust museum. This was announced on X by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who is protesting against a post published yesterday on social media in which Yad Vashem seemed to indicate Poland as the first country to adopt discriminatory measures against Jews, subsequently leading to the Holocaust.

“Poland was the first country where Jews were forced to wear a badge to isolate them from the surrounding population – reads the post, which links to an article on the subject – On this day, November 23, 1939, Hans Frank (governor of Poland during the Nazi occupation, ed.) issued an order that all Jews over 10 years of age had to wear a 10 cm wide white cloth armband with a blue Star of David on their right arm.”

According to Sikorski, the post should have clarified that Poland was “occupied by the Germans” at the time. The Holocaust museum in Jerusalem later reshared the post, writing: “As noted by many users and explicitly specified in the linked article, this was done by order of the German authorities.” But today, the Polish Foreign Minister replied: “Since the misleading post has not been modified, I have decided to summon the Israeli ambassador.”
