18 Novembre 2025

Vientiane, Nov. 18 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s Princess Aiko, currently on an official visit to Laos, on Tuesday visited the Pha That Luang golden stupa in the most prestigious Buddhist temple in Vientiane, the capital of the Southeast Asian nation. Dressed in Lao traditional clothing, the only child of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako was welcomed by local people playing music and dancing. The princess greeted them with a smile, putting her hands together in the Lao style. After offering flowers and candles in front of Buddha statues, Princess Aiko walked around the stupa. She talked with a guide about a festival held at the temple this month and asked what kind of event took place. Earlier on Tuesday, the princess visited the Patuxai victory monument, a gate built in Vientiane to commemorate the country’s independence from France. She went up to the observation deck and looked out over the city. Her official visit is scheduled to last until Saturday. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
