(Adnkronos) – Armed men have kidnapped 25 female students from a girls’ school in northwestern Nigeria, in Kebbi state. Local police announced this, explaining that the armed men, with “sophisticated weapons and firing shots, broke into the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School” at 4 AM. Police intervened, but “unfortunately, the alleged bandits had already scaled the school fence and kidnapped twenty-five female students from their hostel, taking them to an unknown destination,” police said in a statement.
In the attack, the school’s vice principal, Malam Hassan Makuku, who was trying to defend the students, was killed.
