Italy: Rise in exports, trade surplus show govt policies are working says Tajani

14 Novembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – Foreign minister Antonio Tajani on Friday hailed Italy’s 10.5% year-on-year increase in exports and a 2.852 billion euro trade surplus in September, saying the figures show the government’s policies “are working”.

“I am extremely satisfied with the export data, which confirms the effectiveness of the government’s actions,” said Tajani, referring to figures released by Italy’s central statistics agency Istat.

“We have a strategy to boost exports to non-European Union countries, and the data confirms that this strategy has enabled us to achieve good results,” Tajani said, speaking to reporters.

Italy registered a 42 million euro trade deficit with EU countries in September, according to Istat.

Italy’s 2.852 billion euro trade surplus with the rest of the world was up from 2.318 billion euros in September 2024, the Istat data showed.
