Tokyo, Nov. 13 (Jiji Press)–A Jiji Press public opinion poll showed Thursday that 75.1 pct of respondents highly rated Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s summit diplomacy with the United States, China and South Korea thus far. Those who gave low scores accounted for 7.5 pct. Since taking office last month, Takaichi has successively met with U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. The Jiji poll also found that 47.4 pct support the government’s plan to increase defense spending to 2 pct of Japan’s gross domestic product by the end of this fiscal year, ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, 22.7 pct opposed the plan and 29.9 pct said they were unsure. The survey covered 2,000 people aged 18 or older nationwide from Friday to Monday.
