(Adnkronos) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet accused the Thai army on Facebook of opening fire on civilians in Prey Chan village, on the border between the two countries, causing one death and three injuries. According to the Ministry of Information in Phnom Penh, Thai soldiers allegedly fired “intentionally at civilians,” while Bangkok claims its troops “responded with warning shots after Cambodian soldiers had opened fire towards Thai territory.”
The incident reignites tensions along the border between Cambodia and Thailand, just days after Bangkok’s unilateral suspension of the implementation of the peace agreement brokered by Donald Trump. The truce, signed last July, had ended five days of fighting that caused 43 deaths and approximately 300,000 displaced people.
