(Adnkronos) – The death toll from typhoon Fung-wong, which hit the Philippines, has worsened, with 27 dead, 36 injured, two missing, and over 800,000 people evacuated in 15 regions. This brings the total death toll from typhoons Fung-wong and Kalmaegi in the Philippines to at least 259 dead, with another 114 missing. Last week, typhoon Kalmaegi struck Cebu province and several areas of the Central Visayas region, causing 232 deaths, 112 missing, and 523 injured, while more than 4.1 million people were affected, the Philippines News Agency reported, citing the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
Typhoon Fung-wong, which has now left the Philippines heading towards Taiwan, also severely damaged roads and infrastructure, affecting approximately 135,000 homes, of which 20,510 were completely destroyed.
