Tokyo, Nov. 11 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp. said Tuesday its consolidated net profit jumped 2.9-fold from a year earlier to 2,924 billion yen for the six months through September, marking a record high for a fiscal first half. The surge was driven by strong gains in its main investment business, led by the SoftBank Vision Fund, which backs startups such as U.S. artificial intelligence giant OpenAI. In the first half of fiscal 2025, the company’s group sales rose 7.7 pct to 3,736.8 billion yen. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
