(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign undersecretary Giorgio Silli held talks in Rome on Friday with members of Saudi Arabia’s Consultative Assembly’s bilateral friendship commission as the two countries look to bolster their 2025 strategic partnership in a raft of sectors from energy, to defence and culture.
“The SdS @GiorgioSilli today received at #Farnesina the Bilateral Friendship Commission of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia, the Majlis as-Shura,” the foreign ministry wrote on X.
“We continue to strengthen the strategic partnership with #Riad, a central country in the Middle East and a key economic partner for true #GrowthDiplomacy at the service of our businesses”.
Italy and Saudi Arabia inked energy, defence, logistics and cultural cooperation deals worth almost 10 billion euros during a visit by premier Giorgia Meloni to the Kingdom in late January last year.
During her three-day visit, Meloni and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed a joint declaration elevating bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
