(Adnkronos) – International mediators for Sudan – the United States, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia – have presented a proposal for a three-month nationwide humanitarian truce, accepted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). A Saudi official told AFP that the initiative aims to create the conditions for new peace talks to begin in Jeddah between the RSF and the regular Sudanese army, with the goal of reaching a definitive agreement.
The proposal comes at a time of high tension, after the Sudanese government, aligned with the army, announced earlier this week its intention to continue the conflict after evaluating Washington’s previous ceasefire proposal.
