Tokyo, Nov. 5 (Jiji Press)–Suzuki Motor Corp. said Wednesday that its cumulative four-wheel vehicle sales in India have reached 30 million units. This milestone comes 42 years after the Japanese automaker launched the Maruti 800 light vehicle in India in December 1983. India is the second country, after Japan, where Suzuki has sold 30 million vehicles. The South Asian country is a main market for Suzuki, and the company has the top share in the country’s passenger car market. Suzuki currently offers 19 models in India, including hybrid and natural gas vehicles. The best-selling Suzuki vehicle so far is the Alto, with cumulative sales of 4.71 million units, followed by the Wagon R, with 3.46 million units. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
