(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign ministry and embassy in Manila is tracking the powerful Typhoon Kalmaegi, which has killed at least 66 people in the Philippines and caused flooding and devastation since making landfall on Tuesday.
“The foreign ministry and the Italian embassy in Manila @ItalyinPH are closely following the evolving situation,,” the ministry wrote Wednesday on X.
“Typhoon Kalmaegi has caused severe damage and casualties, particularly in Cebu,” read the post, referring to the hardest-hit province, which is also a tourist hub.
“(Foreign) minister @Antonio_Tajani has been informed,” the post added.
The typhoon comes just over a month after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck northern Cebu Province in the central Philippines, killing dozens and displacing thousands.
