(Adnkronos) – Foreign minister Antonio Tajani will take questions from MPs Wednesday on a raft of issues from European Union members’ veto power in foreign affairs and other key areas to new joint ventures with Africa and diplomatic and humanitarian initiatives in conflict zones, especially Sudan – described this week by the UN as a “horrifying crisis” that is “spiralling out of control”.
During parliamentary question time, MPs are also set to quiz Tajani on schemes to make Italy more attractive to foreign professionals and to encourage the return from abroad of young Italian talent.
Tajani and interior minister Matteo Piantedosi last week visited Senegal, Mauritania and Niger within the framework of Italy’s 5.5 billion euro Mattei Plan. The blueprint aims to spur economic growth and stabilise Africa by cementing security and business ties through partnerships in sectors ranging from energy to agriculture, infrastructure and health.
