(Adnkronos) – The risk of attacks remains significant in France, increasingly involving young people and minors. This was stated by the French national anti-terrorism prosecutor, Olivier Christen. The terrorist threat “remains very real” in France ten years after the November 13 attacks, he declared today on France Inter radio. “We are in a phase where the threat is very real. The number of cases we are opening (at the national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office) is among the highest in the last five years.”
“This threat remains real,” he added, but it has evolved: the prosecutor’s office has observed “greater autonomy among individuals” involved in planning attacks, which means “less direct contact with terrorist organizations.” The prosecutor also noted a “significant decrease in the age of those involved.” Since January 1, 17 minors have been indicted this year for acts of terrorism, following 19 in 2024, he recalled.
Olivier Christen also highlighted the emergence, in the last “three or four years,” of the far-right terrorist threat: “in 2025 we initiated five proceedings in this area, which is very important and corresponds to a violent radicalization of a political expression.”
