(Adnkronos) – The European Union must not be flooded by Chinese goods should the United States and China sign a probable trade deal and must be able to ensure a “level playing field”, Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani stated on Friday.
“For Italy, the important thing is that Europe is able to guarantee a level playing field, so that any accords or discounts between the US and Beijing do not turn the European market into a target for Chinese trade invasion,” Tajani said.
Tajani was speaking to reporters at a joint press conference in Rome with EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic after the pair held talks at Villa Madama.
