Mali, US and UK withdraw non-essential personnel from embassies in Bamako

(Adnkronos) – The United States and the United Kingdom are withdrawing their non-essential personnel from their embassies in Mali, where the fuel crisis caused by the blockade imposed by jihadists continues. The US State Department has ordered “non-emergency employees and their families to leave Mali due to security risks,” while the British Foreign Office stated that non-essential embassy staff “have been temporarily withdrawn from Bamako.”
