30 Ottobre 2025

Tokyo, Oct. 30 (Jiji Press)–The Japan Mobility Show 2025 opened at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center Thursday, showcasing new vehicles including concepts and fresh visions for future mobility, as well as so-called neo-classic cars and campers amid increasing attention on them. This year, more than 500 companies and groups from not only the vehicle industry but a broad range of non-automobile sectors take part in the biennial event held under the theme of “a unique opportunity to explore the future of mobility” by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. “We want to make allies here with whom we can create the future and nurture ideas and business seeds together,” JAMA Chairman Masanori Katayama, who is also chairman of Isuzu Motors Ltd., said at an opening ceremony of the event, held on Thursday. “We want to make the Japan Mobility Show an opportunity where we can show a concrete future world, instead of just a pipe dream, and share hopes in society,” he added. According to JAMA, the participants include 42 foreign names, nearly double the number at the previous 2023 show, when the event name was changed from “Tokyo Motor Show,” with Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD showcasing 13 passenger and commercial models in total. Vehicles and concepts having their world premieres include the first model for Century, Toyota Motor Corp.’s newly independent top-end brand, Nissan Motor Co.’s fully remodeled Elgrand minivan newly equipped with the automaker’s e-POWER hybrid system, and Mazda Motor Corp.’s “Vision Model” that embodies the future of Mazda vehicles. One of the main features of the 2025 show through Nov. 9 is “Tokyo Future Tour 2035,” the area where visitors can see how mobility would evolve and change ways of living in the not-so-distant future. The “Mobility Culture Program” allows visitors to look back epoch-making Japanese cars in the postwar period and learn the transformation of the country’s auto industry. In addition, as many as 40 recreational vehicles will be put on display in a dedicated area during the event period. In the “Startup Future Factory” program, emerging companies and research institutes show their unique technologies to make mobility more enjoyable and eco-friendly, as well as to help resolve logistics issues and create sustainable infrastructure. Moreover, visitors can have fun watching racing cars’ demonstration runs and other live actions in the outdoor “Performance Zone” and joining a variety of daily events. On-the-day tickets are sold at 3,000 yen for adults. Visitors who are high school students or younger can enter the event free of charge. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
