(Adnkronos) – A Turkish court has issued another formal arrest warrant for the imprisoned Istanbul mayor, Ekrem Imamoglu, on charges of “political espionage.” This was reported by the Turkish news agency Anadolu. Imamoglu, one of the main rivals of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has been in prison since March awaiting trial on corruption charges. In July, he was convicted on charges of insulting and threatening Istanbul’s chief prosecutor. Imamoglu denies all charges against him.
