Turkey, 17 dead in boat shipwreck

(Adnkronos) – 17 people have died following the shipwreck of the boat they were on off the coast of Bodrum, in southwestern Turkey. The Turkish Coast Guard confirmed this, explaining that “the lifeless bodies of 16 irregular migrants and one smuggler were recovered.” Two migrants were rescued. 

One of the survivors is from Afghanistan. According to the reconstruction by the Mugla authorities, one of the people on board the boat managed to raise the alarm around one o’clock last night. A previous toll reported 14 deaths.
