(Adnkronos) – At least 25 people have died and many others were injured in southern India, in Andhra Pradesh, after a bus caught fire following a collision with a motorcycle that caused the fuel tank to explode. The Times of India reports this. The bus was headed to Bangalore with about 40 passengers on board and was engulfed in flames within minutes. Authorities have opened an investigation.
India’s President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences on ‘X’ to the families of the victims, whose identification will require DNA testing, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
The BBC recalls that last year in India, road accidents caused approximately 180,000 casualties, the highest number in the world, mainly due to speeding, reckless driving, and risky maneuvers.
