NY mayoral election, Adams supports Cuomo against Mamdani

23 Ottobre 2025

(Adnkronos) – New York’s outgoing mayor, Eric Adams, has officially announced that he will support former governor Andrew Cuomo in his electoral race for the November vote, hoping to slow the rise of Zohran Mamdani. The New York Times reported this. “I think it is crucial to raise awareness among Black and Hispanic communities who have suffered from rising rents due to gentrification and have been ignored,” Adams stated in the New York Times interview.

“I will go with the governor to those neighborhoods and engage them, I will speak with them face to face,” Adams added, stating that he wants to get involved not because of a lack of esteem for Mamdani, but to protect New York. “I ran on a promise to make our city safe,” Adams said, criticizing Mamdani for wanting to “dismantle police units, decriminalize prostitution, or return three thousand dangerous inmates to the communities they exploited, a mayor who wants to divide the city into ethnically based taxes and drive out high-income earners.”
