Sudan, drone attack near Khartoum airport

21 Ottobre 2025

(Adnkronos) – A drone attack has hit an area near the international airport of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, which tomorrow – as announced – is expected to reopen for domestic flights for the first time in over two years. Witnesses told the Afp agency that they heard the sound of drones flying over the central and southern parts of the city and several explosions occurring in the airport area between 4 and 6 this morning. No further details are available for now.

The airport has been closed since fighting broke out in April 2023 between Sudanese soldiers and paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
