Netherlands: Italy following cases of Napoli fans detained ahead of Champions clash with PSV

21 Ottobre 2025

(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani is tracking the cases of around 180 Napoli fans arrested by Dutch police overnight in the southern city of Eindhoven ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match against PSV.

“I am following the case of the Napoli fans detained in Eindhoven for checks before tonight’s football match,” Tajani wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“The Embassy in The Hague has already sent staff members, and Italian (anti-terror) Digos agents are already present,” the tweet continued.

“Dutch police will remove fans without tickets,” the tweet added.

The Napoli fans were arrested after entering and refusing to leave a security zone set up by the city’s mayor, Jeroen Dijsselbloem and were taken by bus to a police station for questioning, Eindhoven police wrote on X.

The detained Napoli fans’ tickets for Tuesday’s match were cancelled.

Tonight’s match at PSV Stadium is a very high risk for potential crowd trouble, according to Eindhoven authorities.

The match is set to start at 9pm local time.
