Mideast: Italy vows ‘to continue doing what’s possible’ to keep up dialogue’, support for Gaza

21 Ottobre 2025

(Adnkronos) – After a flare-up of violence in Gaza threatened to derail Israel’s fragile 12-day-old truce with ruling Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in recent days, Italy says it is doing its utmost to support dialogue leading to lasting peace, aid and the rebuilding of the war-shattered coastal enclave.

“We are continuing to do everything possible to back dialogue. The truce in the Gaza Strip is difficult to maintain and we must work to sustain it and transform it into lasting peace,” foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Tuesday.

“We are working intensively with our partners on reconstruction and we are continuing with humanitarian aid,” said Tajani.

Tajani was speaking on the sidelines of a press conference held by his conservative Forza Italy party at the lower house of parliament in Rome.

“Next Thursday, Minister (Anna Maria) Bernini will go to pick up 100-150 Palestinian students who are due to arrive in Italy to study,” Tajani said.
