(Adnkronos) – The ‘no Kings’ protest returns across America, with demonstrations scheduled for tomorrow in over 2500 locations nationwide. The day, which is the second after last June’s, which saw the mobilization of 5 million people, is organized by a coalition of unions and activist networks against Donald Trump’s “authoritarian power grab,” including the use of federal and military forces in American cities to implement anti-immigrant policies. Organizers invite Americans to demonstrate peacefully to “remind President Trump and his supporters that America has no kings.”
“This will undoubtedly be the largest day of protest in American history; since we last held this protest, people have become even more aware of what is wrong with this administration,” said Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen. Meanwhile, Republican leaders have been attacking the demonstrations for days as “anti-American” and expressions of “hatred towards America.” House Speaker Mike Johnson said that Democrats will not vote to reopen the government until “tomorrow’s manifestation of hatred against America,” and went so far as to say that Democrats are trying to appease the party’s “terrorist wing.”
Demonstrations have been organized in major cities, in Washington in front of Congress, in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, but also in small towns across America. Participants have been asked to dress in yellow. Millions of people are expected to participate in the protest, with demonstrations organized by Americans abroad worldwide. And in Italy, Democrats Abroad, the association of Democrats living abroad, are joining two demonstrations “to denounce Trump’s tyranny,” one in Milan, at Largo Cairoli, and one in Venice, at Santa Lucia Station.
