Madagascar, ousted president confirms he has left the country

(Adnkronos) – Madagascar’s ousted president has confirmed for the first time that he has left the country, with a statement released after an elite military unit seized power in the country following weeks of demonstrations. President Andry Rajoelina left between October 11 and 12 after “explicit and extremely serious threats were made to the life of the head of state,” the presidency said in a statement last night.
