Japan Lower House Panel Fails to Meet on PM Election

16 Ottobre 2025

Tokyo, Oct. 16 (Jiji Press)–The steering committee of Japan’s House of Representatives failed to convene a board meeting that had been scheduled for Thursday morning to discuss the agenda for the extraordinary parliamentary session seen starting Tuesday. At the board meeting, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party had intended to decide on holding the parliamentary election of the next prime minister on the opening day of the Diet session. However, the meeting did not take place due to the absence of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan and other parties, as they are still engaged in discussions about a new administration. The LDP is still asking the CDP to agree to hold a board meeting within Thursday. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
