(Adnkronos) – “The socialist party returns to being a governing force and demonstrates that the confrontational strategy of France Insoumise has failed. The PS has obtained the suspension of an unpopular reform. The objective was not to strike an underhand deal, but to guarantee France’s stability in an already dangerous context.” This was stated by former French president François Hollande, in an interview with ‘Repubblica’.
Responding to a question about calls for the resignation of Head of State Emmanuel Macron, Hollande then recalled that “resignation would lead to an early presidential election, to be held within the constitutional period of thirty-five days. Too short a period. We need a long campaign that allows for serious discussion of major issues: defense, security, immigration, taxation, pensions, France’s role in the world.”
