London, Oct. 14 (Jiji Press)–Sumo wrestlers toured central London on Tuesday ahead of a five-day grand tournament at the Royal Albert Hall in the British capital, starting Wednesday. Yokozuna professional sumo grand champion Onosato and other wrestlers walked around Big Ben, posing for photos with tourists. Biting into a hot dog bought from a street vendor on Westminster Bridge, yokozuna Hoshoryu smiled and said, “Yummy.” Overseas sumo tournaments are held at the invitation of host countries. The upcoming event will take place in London for the first time since 1991. Martin Campbell-White, who organized the 1991 tournament, expressed his expectation for excitement among Londoners. “I think the audience is going to go wild,” he said. The event is attracting a lot of attention, and tickets for the first day have sold out. Open training sessions for wrestlers and interactive events for children are also scheduled. “We’d love them to come back,” Campbell-White said. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
