(Adnkronos) – Italy can send more paramilitary Carabinieri police officers to the occupied Palestinian territories to help train the Palestinian Authority police force, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said late on Monday.
“Our Carabinieri already operate in the Palestinian territories and have been training PA police for years, in Jericho (in the West Bank. And we could even increase their numbers if requested,” Tajani told public broadcaster Rai’s ‘Five Minutes’ programme.
“Our Carabinieri are also in Rafah (at the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt) as part of a European Union mission,” Tajani noted.
