(Adnkronos) – Israel has announced that it has released 1,968 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of the last 20 still-living hostages who were in the hands of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. “The Israeli prison service has released the imprisoned terrorists in accordance with the hostage return agreement” reached between Israel and Hamas as part of the Gaza ceasefire understanding, a statement read.
In total, “1,968 terrorists have been released from Ofer prison (in the West Bank, ed.) towards East Jerusalem and from Ktziot prison (in southern Israel, ed.)” towards the Gaza Strip, the statement read.
