Tokyo, Oct. 2 (Jiji Press)–Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Shinichi Uchida said Thursday that Japanese business sentiment is positive thanks to decreased uncertainty stemming from a trade agreement between Japan and the United States. The central bank’s “tankan” quarterly survey, released on Wednesday, showed that business sentiment has improved among some manufacturers and is positive overall, Uchida said at a national conference of securities industry officials. The deputy governor said that the BOJ will continue to raise the policy interest rate and adjust the degree of monetary easing if its economic and price outlooks are realized. Whether the forecasts will be met will be determined without prejudgment based on the careful consideration of domestic and foreign economic and price conditions as well as financial market trends, he added.
