(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign office and its diplomats in Munich are “monitoring the situation” on Wednesday after the Oktoberfest fairgrounds were closed following a threat from the suspected perpetrator of an explosion at a property in which at least one person died.
“The Foreign Office and the General Consulate @ItalyinMunich are monitoring the situation following the explosion in Munich,” the foreign ministry wrote on X.
“Minister @Antonio_Tajani is in contact with Headquarters. For any emergency or report, we invite you to contact the Crisis Unit at +39 06 36225 or via email at unita.crisi@esteri.it,” the post stated.
Officials discovered the bomb threat to Oktoberfest in a letter from the alleged perpetrator, prompting the closure of the world’s largest beer festival until at least 5pm local time while police searched for explosive devices.
