Niinami Resigns as Keizai Doyukai Chief

30 Settembre 2025

Tokyo, Sept. 30 (Jiji Press)–The Japan Association of Corporate Executives, or Keizai Doyukai, said Tuesday that it has accepted the resignation of its chairman, Takeshi Niinami. After police began an investigation into allegations related to health supplements purchased by Niinami, he stepped down as chairman of Japanese beverage group Suntory Holdings Ltd. in early September. He also suspended his activities as chairman of Keizai Doyukai, entrusting the decision regarding his position to the association. Keizai Doyukai established an ethics panel to examine whether it was appropriate for Niinami to continue in his role as chairman of the association. By Tuesday, the committee compiled an opinion stating that Keizai Doyukai should recommend Niinami to resign as chairman and presented it to the association’s board of directors. Until the appointment of Niinami’s successor, the activities of the association’s chief will be undertaken by Senior Vice Chairman Mutsuo Iwai. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
