Danish Justice Minister, ‘drone alarms are new reality’

(Adnkronos) – The repeated drone alarms in Denmark, as in other European and NATO countries, now represent a “new reality” to contend with. This was stated by the Danish Minister of Justice, Peter Hummelgaard, emphasizing during a press conference that no significant air traffic disruptions have occurred in the country since Thursday. However, speaking of an ongoing “hybrid war,” he explained that just as the terrorist threat became part of reality after the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, now hybrid attacks have become part of the new reality.

Denmark has been on high alert due to drones for a week. The sighting of several large unmanned aerial vehicles led to the closure of Copenhagen’s main airport for hours early last week. On Wednesday evening, drones reappeared over several other airports in the western part of the NATO member country, leading to the closure of airspace above Aalborg airport. Since then, hundreds of drone sightings have been reported to authorities across the country, although there have been no significant consequences.

Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen stated that it is still unclear who is behind these incidents, not ruling out possible Russian involvement. The Kremlin, however, rejected the accusations, branding them as “unfounded”.
