Tokyo, Sept. 26 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s inflation-adjusted real wage index in July has been revised down to a year-on-year drop of 0.2 pct from the rise of 0.5 pct marked in a preliminary report, the labor ministry said Friday. The new data showed that the index fell for the seventh consecutive month. The preliminary report had been announced earlier this month. Growth in nominal wages per worker, including base salary and overtime, shrank to 3.4 pct from 4.1 pct, according to the revised report on the ministry’s monthly wage survey covering businesses with five or more employees. Special pay, including bonuses, was revised down to growth of 6.3 pct from 7.9 pct, and regular pay, mainly basic salary, to 2.0 pct from 2.5 pct. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
