(Adnkronos) – A large demonstration against the war in Gaza will be held on Saturday in Berlin, with tens of thousands of people expected. The protest, dubbed ‘All eyes on Gaza’, is “expected to be the largest demonstration in Germany in solidarity with Gaza,” said co-organizer Jules El-Khatib during a press conference. “So far the largest demonstration has been 50,000 people in Berlin. We want to beat it,” he added.
The event was promoted by an alliance of 50 organizations, including Amnesty International, Medico International and representatives of the Palestinian and Jewish communities in the German capital. The organizers accuse Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, a charge the Israeli government has strongly denied.
The demonstrators, who will gather in front of the Victory Column, will ask Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government to end “German complicity”, implement an embargo on arms sales to Israel, support the ceasefire and efforts to secure the release of “all victims of war crimes who are illegally detained – thousands in Israeli prisons and dozens held hostage in Gaza”.
