(Adnkronos) – The United Arab Emirates has sent an emergency relief plane carrying 96 tons of medical supplies to Botswana, following the declaration of a public health emergency due to the shortage of essential medical supplies. The Wam agency reports this, emphasizing that the urgent aid is part of the United Arab Emirates’ global humanitarian initiatives aimed at ensuring rapid recovery and stability. The aid from the United Arab Emirates included a package of medicines for chronic diseases, along with essential medical supplies such as bandages, sutures, and necessary surgical equipment.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, president of the United Arab Emirates Aid Agency, stated: “The sending of medical aid to Botswana is part of the United Arab Emirates’ global humanitarian role in responding quickly to health crises, strengthening the health systems of friendly African countries, and improving their ability to curb the spread of epidemics and infectious diseases.
“The medical assistance from the United Arab Emirates will contribute to supporting the stocks of medicines and essential medical supplies for surgical operations,” he added, “while improving the capacity of the health sector to provide medical services to a large segment of the population that depends directly on the public health system, particularly children, women, and the elderly.”
