(Adnkronos) – Russian military aircraft violated Estonian airspace. The Tallinn government announced it, specifying that three MiG-31 fighters flew over the Gulf of Finland for a total of 12 minutes without authorization. Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said Russia has already violated Estonian airspace four times this year, “which is in itself unacceptable, but today’s violation, during which three fighter jets entered our airspace, is of unprecedented boldness”.
“It is necessary to respond to the increasing border checks and Russia’s aggressiveness by rapidly strengthening political and economic pressure,” he added. Estonia is the third NATO country to report an incursion into its airspace by Russia in recent weeks: on Sunday, Romania said a drone violated its airspace during a Russian attack on neighboring Ukraine.
