(Adnkronos) – US President Donald Trump confirmed with a post his intention to “designate Antifa” as a “terrorist organization”. “I am pleased to inform our many US patriots that I am designating the large terrorist organization Antifa, a sick and dangerous far-left disaster,” he wrote in a post on Truth during his visit to the UK, following statements made in recent days and the murder of Charlie Kirk.
“I will also strongly recommend that those who fund Antifa be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and procedures,” he added in the post.
A White House official spoke to CNN about what he described as “one of many actions the president will take to address leftist organizations that fuel political violence.” The network points out that it is unclear what mechanism Trump will use against the movement or who or what exactly ends up in the crosshairs.
