(Adnkronos) – Iranian authorities have announced the execution by hanging of Babak Shahbazi, convicted of collaborating with Israeli secret services since 2022. According to the Tehran judiciary, the sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court and concerned the capital crimes of “corruption on earth” and “war against God”.
Shahbazi, who worked on the design and installation of industrial cooling systems for companies linked to military, security and telecommunications sectors, allegedly provided information to the Mossad in exchange for money and residence abroad. His execution is part of a crackdown by the Iranian authorities against alleged collaborators of Israel: in recent months alone, Tehran has carried out other death sentences and announced dozens of arrests for espionage activities.
