(Adnkronos) – A shipowner wanted in connection with the investigation into the 2020 explosion in the port of Beirut has been arrested in Bulgaria. This was announced by a spokeswoman for the Sofia court to the Afp news agency. “He was placed in detention for a maximum period of 40 days based on a court decision of 7 September, confirmed on appeal,” the spokeswoman said. The devastating explosion that occurred on August 4 five years ago caused 220 deaths and over 6,000 injuries.
