(Adnkronos) – North Korea has denounced the “hostile actions” of the United States and reiterated its right to maintain a nuclear arsenal as a defense tool. In a statement released by the permanent mission to the UN, Pyongyang stated: “We condemn the provocative acts of the United States, which have once again shown their hostile intentions by trying to interfere in the internal affairs of the country and violating its sovereignty”.
According to North Korea, the possession of nuclear weapons is now an “irreversible” part of national legislation and represents an essential factor in “guaranteeing global peace and stability” in the face of threats from Washington. Pyongyang also accused the United States of undermining the international non-proliferation system and criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), accusing it of having “lost independence and impartiality” for not also denouncing “the US nuclear threat”.
