(Adnkronos) – Russia announced that it shot down 221 Ukrainian drones overnight, one of the highest numbers since the beginning of the war. The Moscow Defense Ministry said its alert systems “intercepted and destroyed” the drones, more than half of which were flying over the Bryansk and Smolensk regions. Twenty-eight drones were shot down in the Leningrad region, where St. Petersburg is located, and nine in the Moscow region.
Leningrad Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko said a fire broke out on a ship in the port of Primorsk, a major facility on the Baltic Sea, but that the flames were extinguished and there is no risk of an oil spill.
